NAGPUR: Day seven of the centralized admission process (CAP) went by without even a single taker for scooter maintenance course. Seats across colleges are being filled up fast and it is expected to cross the 3,000 mark by Sunday. The CAC has also informed that the admission venue will be changed to Shivaji Science College only for Sunday and the process will resume as usual at Dhanwate College from on Monday.
As the counseling sessions for bifocal course nears the end, seats in most of the top colleges were full causing disappointment for many. Students said that seats in many colleges were already allotted so they were forced to opt for colleges located in far flung areas.
"My daughter had to take admission in a college which is very far from our residence because there are no choices left" a parent complained.
Prerna Rodge, a student, said that with seats in her preferred colleges already full, she had no option but to seek admission in a college which she was not even in her list of preferences. Prerna, said, "The committee suggested me to go in for Sindhu College as I failed to get admission in any other college. My parents were in no mood to send me to a far off college but now I hardly have a choice."
Many other students complained about lack of proper information from the CAC and frequent tiffs. CAC members, however, pointed out that students and parents had not been reading information mentioned at the back of the admission form in detail. Naturally, they commit mistakes and cause inconvenience to others.
